Crosstree was founded by Sean Arnold and Nick Lyle, who both developed their careers at major global real estate private equity firms, but saw an opportunity to create something fresh. Each has a successful track record of creative deal making across a diverse set of sectors and structures, having been involved in some of the industry's most notable transactions.
Crosstree's team combines a mix of backgrounds, experience and perspective together with the support and infrastructure of the Bertarelli Investments Group. We will continue to selectively add to our team as our portfolio and business grows.
Prior to forming Crosstree, Sean was with Starwood Capital Group Global, L.P., most recently as Head of European Acquisitions based in London. Sean's transaction experience includes corporate investments, asset and portfolio acquisitions, distressed and performing debt and joint ventures. Prior to joining Starwood in 2003, Sean worked in mortgage and asset backed finance, first for Prudential Securities Incorporated and then for Fairbanks Capital. Sean received an AB in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Prior to forming Crosstree, Nick was with The Blackstone Group, most recently as Managing Director and Head of the UK Real Estate team based in London. Nick has led deals in most real estate sectors including office, retail, industrial, residential, student and healthcare, covering both public market and private transactions. Before joining Blackstone at the beginning of 2006, Nick worked at Broadreach Capital Partners in Silicon Valley and practiced as a corporate and structured finance lawyer in both London and Hong Kong. Nick received a BA in Modern History from Oxford University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He completed his law degree at Exeter University.
Matt is responsible for the project management, asset management and execution of developments within the Crosstree Portfolio. Prior to joining Crosstree Matt spent 9 years at IVG Immobilien AG, most recently as Co-Head for IVG UK. During his tenure at IVG Matt oversaw a £500 million development portfolio as Development Director responsible for major office and mixed used schemes in London and across the UK, both as a balance sheet developer and JV funding partner. Prior to IVG, Matt spent 10 years at Buro Four Project Services, undertaking Project and Design Management roles in a number of high profile construction schemes.
Ryan has overall responsibility for the financing, accounting, tax and reporting for Crosstree and its investments. Prior to joining Crosstree, Ryan was the Senior Financial Controller for Kedge Capital responsible for the accounting, financial and investor reporting for their Private Equity Fund of Funds programme and Ares Life Sciences investment vehicle. Prior to joining Kedge in 2009, Ryan worked for Blackstone Real Estate Partners as Financial Controller of their European Funds and Investments. Ryan started his career with Deloitte where he was an audit manager in their Investment Management team focusing on Private Equity. Ryan received a BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Strathclyde and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Will is responsible for sourcing, analysis and execution of investments. Prior to joining Crosstree, Will was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, most recently as an Associate in the Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging Investment Banking Group, based in London. At BAML for five years, Will worked on a number of European debt and equity corporate financings, and mergers and acquisitions assignments on behalf of the firm's global real estate clients. Will graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bristol University.
Peter is responsible for sourcing, analysis and execution of investments. Prior to joining Crosstree, Peter was with First Growth Real Estate Capital, most recently as an Associate, based in London. At FGREC, Peter worked on pan-European restructuring of and investment in real estate, preferred equity and debt secured by real estate. Prior to joining FGREC in 2009, Peter was an investment analyst at ING Real Estate. Peter received a BA Hons from the faculty of Business, Finance, and Economics at Durham University, and an MSc in Real Estate from Oxford Brookes University.
Safi is responsible for research and analysis of investments. Prior to joining Crosstree, Safi was with Rothschild, as an Analyst in the Real Estate and Leisure Investment Banking team, based in London. At Rothschild, Safi worked on a number of UK real estate mergers and acquisitions assignments and real estate financing transactions. Safi graduated with First Class Honours in Economics and Arabic from the University of Edinburgh.
